“O deus cristão (a favor de claridade e brevidade, vou usar “Deus” adiante para distinguir este conceito de deus de outras divindades) é decididamente distinto hoje a descrição bíblica, e completamente distinto às descrições do Antigo Testamento. Os fundamentalistas afirmam que todas as descrições são fiéis, mas dão ênfases aos aspectos diferentes de Deus sem ser contraditórias. Uma interpretação mais liberal é que as descrições distintas de Deus se baseiam nos entendimentos mutáveis de Deus que os humanos tem tido por tempos. Contudo, a Bíblia descreve a Deus muitas vezes como perfeito em todas as suas características, e oferece uma quantidade grande destas características. Por séculos, teólogos tem proposto outras características, e crenças populares tem alterado o conceito de Deus. Todas estas descrições da Bíblia, teologia, e crenças populares formam os conceitos variados de Deus como vemos no cristianismo hoje. […]”

The fundamentalist claims that all descriptions are accurate, but give emphasis to different aspects of God without being contradictory. A more liberal interpretation is that the differing descriptions of God are based on humanity’s changing understanding of God. Either way, the Bible does many times describe God as perfect in all his attributes, and gives a large number of those characteristics. Over the centuries, theologians have proposed other attributes, and popular beliefs have altered the concept of God. All of those descriptions from the Bible, theology, and popular beliefs are compiled into the varying concepts of God as seen throughout Christianity today. […]”
